CHICAGO. Feb. 8 (AP)
Broadened suggestions of crop

Egg Price Cutting it
Noted; Demand For
Lambs is Lively
PORTLAND. Feb. t (AP)
Wisdom ot the latest cut in the
price of butter on the dairy ex
change here was being openly
questioned by some leaders of the
trade.
With the make decreasing and
practically no shipping surplus to
speak ot In sight, the trade ar
gues that it was Idle to continue
local quotations below those of
California because of any pros-'
pective desire to more in that di
rection. Practically all makers reported
a further decrease in local churn
ing operations.
Some trade leaders were refus
ing to follow downward the price
ot butter-fat, named when the
produce exchange cut extras lc
Therefore buying prices are again
somewhat mixed.
While there were no open chan
ges In the price on eggs for the
day, secret rebates and open price
cutting was shown by some out
siders and Independent distrib
utors. With supplies of live chickens
flowing freely from weeteru
Washington points at extreme low
privs killers here have again re-
dceed their low buying price an-
643 r cent all around.
Very weak tone especially was
showing tor heavy weight live
hens. In tact it was almost Im
possible to find buyers willing to
take them even at current low
values.
There was a really worth while
demand for quality country kill
ed Iambs. Sales up to 12 c. Veal
are steady at the late fractional
loss as are hogs.
