HG EGG DEALEftS
PORTLAND, Jan. 11 While
there was ao open cut in the price
of eggs In Portland, following th
! recent advance, mora or less price
I shading below established quota
tions was shown. Chief among the
cutters appear those dealers who
were reported as quoting the high
est figure her.
In quarters clot to th local
co-ops th report suggests that ea-
emles of the local co-operative
movement were making a deter
mined attempt to handicap the
Oregon organization, now that
their leader, E. J. Dixon, Is dead.
In other quarters a report persists
that northern Interests were tir
ing to gobble up the local co-ops
and mak them a part of the Pa
get Sound organisation.
The lower prices named at most
of th leading points in th coua
try jsst at the time that Portland
advanced its quotations, suggests
that conditions wer not as firm
la the egg trade as some Interests
profess. Reports continue to sug
gest that som big Interest has a
big block of storage eggs secretly
held and Is trying to boost fresh
eggs te grab greater profits on the
Ice house goods.
