To Hold for 60c Cwt. .Western Outlook is Above East ' LABISH CENTER, Jan. 10 Lablsh onion growers made the tint more Monday night to ward oft any such, conditions as arose two years ago, when growers be I came uneasy about the price sit uation and began to consign car load lots, with the result that prices already extremely low took the toboggan slide to almost noth ing. At Monday's meeting, the more ! than 50 growers present agreed aot to, geH any produce less than A. . m - n .il- COe a cwt until the organization for the selling of the remainder of the present crop is completed. A. F. Hayes, ef Hayes Lablsh farms, who called the meeting, -said that unless measures were taken, the experiences ef 1930, ' were Imminent. Hayes Heads Committee After slight discussion, a tem porary committee of five growers headed by Mr. Hayes, was elected to draw up a plan for the dispos al of the remaining onions, about COO carloads. W. A. Starker, Aug ust Harris, O. O. MeClaughry and H. O- Boehm are other members. I la probable that another meeting will be called soon. One ptaa suggested was that those growers who wish to sell oa a cer tain day would place their names on a blackboard at headquarters, and then buyers would go directly' to the growers. The group would fix a minimum price level . The outlook tor the local grow ers appears more favorable than in aay eastern sections. It Is re ported that more onions are la storage in eastern centers now than at the beginning of last year. Oriental trade has bolstered up the situation here. It Is highly probable that U. S. government inspection will be re quired by most buyers now, hew ever. E BUTTER TO DROP 1C PORTLAND, Jan. 10 (AP) . Drop et lc la the price ef butter here daring the session of the produce exchange appeared more or leas unnecessary in view ot the fact that a general cleanup of current offerings has been noted here during the last few days. Butter speculative inter ests are said to be forcing down the price here so as to create greater profits tor themselves oa shipments to the south. There was no doubt or the increasing chum la the Pacifle northwest sector but up to this time there has been a good out ward movement sufficient to take care of the surplus. The cut of le lb in the buying price on butterfat followed the lower quotation on the exchange. Advanced egg prices quoted by the local co-ops were maintained with the south the chief buyer. Talk ot higher prices here than the co-ops was not credited by the trade inasmuch as the ones reported getting more were said to usually quote high and sell low. Further advance ot le lb. in the buying price on live chick ens by local killers follows the shortage of offerings as well as the previous attempt to scare the country into selling by talking of lower prices. There continues a scarcity ot both mutton and lambs. Lambs were top at 10c with ewes very firm at S-4e according to qual- "7. j (ieOTge Cnime IS Seated as Mayor As Council Meets I TURNER.
