Roman Guenther Weds in Portland The marriage of Roman Guen ther, well known In Salem, was married in Portland Saturday night to Miss Thelma Lucille Tallhelm of Los Angeles. - The marriage took place in the new home which Mr. Guenther has just completed at 780 Hol gate street, Portland. The ro mance which culminated in this I marriage began In Salem last summer when Miss Tallhem was spending the summer months with Mrs. B. J. Peterson, an old college friend. Dec. 10 The cold snap came as a surprise to most , people, as they were not ready tor it. The thermometer registered II above Thursday morning, and from all indications, it may get colder. Water pipes were frosen and also autos. Otherwise no ser ious results have resulted, as yet. Virgil Weddle, farmer living four miles southeast of Jefferson, underwent a major operation at the Deaconess hospital Tuesday. His condition was reported as sat isfactory as could be expected.
