ROCK POINT, .Nov. 4 (Spe
cial) Peter Burghart, 08, drop
ped dead at his home here this
afternoon after returning from
the home of his daughter, Mrs. K.
Schab, at Shaw. He had been in
apparent good health. Funeral
services will be held at the Sub
limity Catholic church Monday
morning at I o'clock, with Father
Scherbring officiating. Recitation
of the Rosary will be at the home
Saturday night at 8 o'clock.
Mr. Burghart was born In Rus
sia in 1888. He waa wedded ia
1888 to Annie Marie Bone, to
which union 11 children were
born, four of whom died in Infan
cy. His widow survives.
The following children sur
vive: Ksthryn Schab of Shaw;
Agnes Shell at Montana; Mrs.
Bard Schneider of Salem; Mary
Desch and Frances Desch of Port
land; Albie Burghart of Salem
and Ed Burghart at home. Also
survive two sisters, Mrs. George
Etsel of Stayton and Barbara
Hasser of Portland; and two bro
thers, John of Kansas and Kasper
of Portland; and 22 grandchildren.

(AP) Fineless week at the Cam
bridge public library today re
sulted in the return by John
Mackintosh of a book, "The Story
of Scotland," 28 years overdue.
Fines on the book, which or
iginally eost the library 8 cents
in 1880, would have amounted
to 2289 the sum the borrower
escaped paying by virtue of the
cancellation offer. The book was
returned by man by an "old gen
tleman in Wilmington." Records
showed he borrowed It in 1824.

County Clerk is
Ready to Check
Election Results
With most of the supplies for
the Tuesday election now in the
hands of election boards, the
county clerk office yesterday
was arranging for the checking of
the returns beginning at t p.m.
Tuesday night. No actual count
ing will be dona until the next
day but the office will be open
until midnight to receive official
returns from the various pre
cincts. The official tabulation Is made
November 0. Tha public receives
its returns this year, as formerly,
through the accurate summaries
prepared by newspapers.
