meeting: of the fall season Mod
day night, with a good crowd and

The club voted late last spring
to sponsor a Boy Scout troop. A
small group of boys took up the
preliminary work during the sum
mer. and now with new boys add
ed are ready to get to work in
earnest with their scoutmaster.
Waldo Riches, who announced
they would meet at the school-
house on Tuesday nights. Rev. N.
Sherman Hawk, who; is familiar
with the work, assisted the boys
during- the summer, as did D. B.
Parks, chairman of the. sponsor
ing committee,
Rev. Hawk gave a short talk
on the work of the organization.
D. B. Parks announced the pro
gram which opened with music by
the Fowler orchestra. "Fall Open
ing" was given by about 20 girls
and small children, with Mrs. Mae
Hadley at the piano. Arthur Best-
vater gave two solo numbers, ac
companied by Mrs. Hadley at the
niano. Olga Garner'gave a mono-
, lorue, and responded with a read-
ing for her" second number, a nu-
morous reading oy Mrs. wanaa.

that a revolver was clutched in the
girl's hand pointed to suicide, but
: the finding of a note addressed to
the hotel manager, telling of her
being pursued by a man, started
an investigation on a murder
theory. Miss Jennison is believed t
have eloped some time ago from

FARMERS ALL SET
PRATUM, Oct. 12 Farmers
have filled their woodsheds with
wood, their barns with, hay and
straw, their silos with corn and
are now husking what corn re
mains in the field and are Just
about ready for the rain which
never fails to come about this
time of the year. Fred de Vries
built and filled a silo last week.

Houses Are Built

homes are being constructed on
the sand table. An Eskimo house
will be made of blocks of white
clay. . Floyd Zink is chairman of
the committee for the construc
tion of the Eskimo house, and
Donald Gonser for the American
home.
The fourth gfade, under the di
rection of Miss Mildred Gardner,
is writing i nlar for Columbus
day. They hope to have it ready
to present for - their parents and
friends in a few days.

the," school grounds was a great
success in every way. The event,
sponsored by the Grand Island Im

beautiful day the entire program
was given out of doors.

Mr. Gehlhar gave a very-interest
ing and instructive talk on the
problems confronting the agricul
ture of today.
A bountiful basket dinner was
served out of doors during the
noon nour. The afternoon .pro
gram opened "with commuity sing
ing directed by Rex .Ferrer of
Dayton, talk by D. Lynn Gubser
of ..the TJnionvale district, early
memories of the island, were re
called by Mrs. Mercy .Tompkins
and. J. A. Mothorn ef this district.
