A hit and run driver from Hood River, with a companion, both band men were motoring from Hood River when their car struck Phil Ber brick of Hubbard about midnight Thursday near the Zoo auto park, on the Pacific highway, where he lay stunned and bleeding from a badly cut faee. his nose being cut in two. On returning to consciousness he managed to' reach Zoo auto park and the proprietor, Earl Lo ney called the doctor and the state police. The doctor tended the injured man and took him to the home of George Oberst near Zoo auto park where he has been staying. No assess ment will be levied by the Hop Growers' Fire Relief association despite published reports to the contrary. At a recent meeting of directors here gross assets of the association were shown to be $53. 353. Despite losses sustained by defalcation, the association thinks Its reserves adequate. Only one loss has been sustain ed by the association this year and the hop drying season U nearly over. The association has existed 36 continuous years without an assessment.
