VilI be Held October 21 Un der Auspices of Union Hill Grange VICTOR POINT, Sept. 15 The September business meeting o Union Hill grange was held Friday, night at the grange hall. Discussion of election measures was the main business of the meeting. Plans for fall grange work were made- outstanding of which will be a community fair to be held at the next regular meeting, October 21. Committees to arrange for the affair are: Program, Mrs. Vera Siott, Mrs. Jennie Humphreys, Mrs. Elsie Tate; general, Floyd Fox, Verny Scott, James Gilham. Roy Butler. Julius Krens, Mrs. C. E. Morley; flower ,and textile department, Mrs. Helen Mulkey, Thelma Humphreys and Mrs. J. C. Krenz. The first farm exhibit or com munity fair held by the grange In November, 1931, was so en thusiastically received that It was roted to have it annually and In addition to the farm products this year will see a display et flowers and textile works from iuw community. Mr. and Mm. Galen Mishler who have been living at the J. C. Krenz place during the summer months, have moved and are at the Shamburger place neir Rocky Point for the present. A. F. Savage left Saturday for a business trip to Canada, where he has property Interests which he hopes to dispose of while there. Nearly every kind of seed for the garden is being contracted here by the company, and by De cember Mr. Banlck believes he will handle $100,000 worth of seed here. Sept. ll - Mr. and Mrs. .Walter Miller are the. proud parents of a baby girL. born at Ihelr home south of Scio, Thurs day afternoon. The first nfbnthly meeting of the Scio Parents Teaehers as sociation was held at the school Thursday- night, but due to the small number of people present, the appointment of committees and other business was' postpon ed until the October meeting. Friends of Lyle Shelton of Stayton were very much sur prised to hear of his recent marriage to Alta Champ, also of Stayton. Lyle is a graduate of the Scio high school and has spent most of his life in and around Scio. Mr. and Mrs.. Ernest Caldwell returned Thursday from Wash ougal, Washington, where they spent a week visiting at the home of Glen Holland and wife, Mrs. Holland and wife, Mrs. Hol land and Mrs. Caldwell being sisters. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Wern of Los - Angeles, are guests of the P. H. McDonald family. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Holecheck and two children, expect to leave Wednesday for South , Dakota, where they will spend several weeks at the home of Mrs. Hole check's parents. Her father Is In very poor health. New steps and a new cement side walk, are the improvements being mads at the Baptist churca in Scio. Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Carlesoa have moved from the Beal resi dence where they have lived dur ing the summer. They will make their home with Mrs. Vilas Philippi during the winter. Mrs. Hettle Will was elected clerk for the school district at the spe cial school meeting held la the schoolhouse Friday night. She fills the vacancy made by the resigna tion of Mrs. Arka Laurence, who has moved out of the district. The Grand Island school will start Monday, September 21. with Mrs. Pauline Fowler of this dis trict as principal and Miss Lucille Fisher of Dayton in charge ot the primary room. The C. A. Rockhill car. which waa stolen off the main street of Dayton Monday night, was located by state police Wednesday night south of Salem and returned te the owner Thursday. The car had only been driven about 49 miles ana was apparently uninjured.
