CORVALLIS, Ore., Sept. 9 (AP The weekly dried prun market and crop report reyiew prepared by the state college ex tension service and the govern ment bureau of agriculture today said that nearly all dried prune acreage in Oregon and Washing ton, with good yields, will be har vested it picking and drying oper ations can be financed. Some acreage with poor yields will not be harvested. A good many growers are re ported accepting cash advances on the following basis: 2 cents per pound for 30-35's; 2 cents for 35-40's; 2 cents for 40-45'a; 1 3-4 cents for 45-50's; and 1 1-4 centa for 50-65's. Various options for final sale and settlement are made. Little cash buying haa been by packers from producers al though some independent owners of dryers have been making some cash purchases at $7 to $9 per tou for the fresh prunes. Virtually no export business has been dose yet. Liberty Prune Growers Ready To Dry Yields LIBERTY, Sept. 9. (AP) Stocks a gala felt the finch of sell ing orders today, but not until th list bad gone through a, fairly gen eral rally. Trading was most active la the last hour waea solders were tak ing profits and when offerings for the short account seemed to be on the increase. Many brokers thought a reaetloa would at least hare the merit ef strengthening the technical position. Also, they wondered how much higher the market could be expected to go without fresh Impetus from busi ness news. Cotton hardened to the extent of nearly a dollar a bale. Rail road executives, meeting la Chi cago, decided to recommend that Individual roads serve notices of a second wage cut. Weekly mer cantile reviews offered some cheerful comments on the state of trade and sentiment. Copper still acted sluggishly In the for eign market. Taking the day as a whole, stocks moved irregularly. At its best the general list was 1 to 3 points higher. The range of net losses was not Quite so wide, averaging into a decline of 1.7 for 90 leading issues. In a turn over of 4,038,210 shares. Net recessions amounted to around a point in U. S. Steel, Am erican Telephone, Consolidated Gas and North American. Ana conda, Kennecott and American Smelting were heavier; so were National Biscuit, United Aircraft and Westinghouse. Detroit Edison took little notice of its dividend cut. the possibility of which was made known three months ago. to start about Monday. It now looks like most of the prune will be dried, if the S10 cannery price is not to be had. While the market for the new 1932 Oregon crop haa hardly opened as yet. because of the late season, current- bids for new crop Clusters are ranging from 13c to 13?ic per lb. net to grower. This compares with open ing ralues of 14-15c last year, and 12-13c two years ago; 13 is being offered for new crop Fug gles. Growers howerer, are offering only light amounts at these prices, mostly showing an inclination to await further derelopmenu.
