Oregon North Santiam Work Approved Official approval of the North Santiam highway work between Detroit and Whitewater has been given by Division Engineer Chan dler of the state highway depart ment, who this week went over a portion of the route with County Engineer Swart. Because federal funds are to be used in building the road, both state and county approval was required. The road has not been accepted as a state highway but the expec tation has been expressed by local officials that it will be accepted after completion as a state high way to be maintained by the state.
