A family reunion of special In terest in . this district will be held at Turner Sunday when the descendants of George and Charles Riches, will gather for this annual event. The Waldo Hills has been the home of this family since 1853, when Charles Riches, the elder of the brothers, came to Oregon At It years of age be shipped before the mast, spending two years on the great lakes. He then bought land In Canada, but early in 1853 he went to Calif ornia via Cape Horn, going on to Portland thence .to Waldo Hills, where his brother lived He did shoe making In Salem and farmed leased land In the Hills. In 1855 be took a dona tlon claim on the part of which now stands the town of Turner. George, the youngest, took donation claim In 1847 though previous to that time he had been a built the pews for the first church built in StLouis Charles Riches and family now make their home on the land claim. His five children all make their home in and around Sil verton. They are, Sarah Adam son, who is the eldest. Jack Riches, Mrs. Charles Givens. Mrs. Mac Mulkey, Charles Riches.
