Wilbur will giTe the afternoon address. It Is expected that a large number of friends and relatives of the pioneers who were active In the church, will be present. The roof has been replaced The timbers were hewed out in the vicinity and the frame- was pinned together with wooden pins made by hand tools: the siding was put on with hand wrought nails; lumber- was haul ed from Oregon City with ox teams. The original pupit and pews are still in use, they were fashioned by- the Condit family. The first pulpit's Bible is used and the original stove still does duty. (AP) To their dog two resi dents of Millington probably owe their lives. The dog jumped up on the bed of Its master, Thomas Curran. early Wednesday and barked vo ciferously until Mr. Curran was thoroughly awakened. , , Then Mr. Curran Jumped out of bed, awoke his wife, and the two fled from the house. The dwelling was In flames. With all Its contents. It was destroyed. The morning was spent in playing horseshoe and archery while the afternoon was spent In bathing and boat riding. Fire works were enjoyed in the even-; lng. . i Picnic lunch was served at late noon and refreshments were served again at five o'clock. Those who attended the picnic were Mr. and Mrs. Owen Lcy and sen Marvin. Mr. and Mrs. Weston Lacy and children Theo dore and Virginia; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Comstock and sons Robert and Richard; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Camstock, daughters Ruby and Hazel and sons Jlmmie; Mr. and Mrs. E. July 7 In a tetter home this week, Reuben Jensen who is spending the sum mer at a Y. M. C. A. camp in Washington, writes that he is still walking about on snow at Spirit camp, at the foot of St. Helens. He also wrote that he had the rare privilege of seeing trilliums blooming In the snow. Jensen Is one ot the leaders at the camp. These included Mr. and Mrs. 01 Hatteberg and Annie Hatte berg ot Brash Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hatteberg and Mr. and Mrs. J aimer Retsland ot Silrerton, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hatteberg of Downs Station, Miss Agnes Hatte berg ot La Grande, who Is spend ing the summer here, and Miss Nettle Hatteberg and Will Hatte berg of Pratum. Mr. and Mrs. L. II. Meyer mo tored to Hubbard on the Fourth where they Joined Mr. and Mrs. Alvln Williams and the four went on to Champoeg for a day's out ing. On the evening of the Fourth a group enjoyed a picnle supper at the park at Silverton. Patriotic" Prbgrani E 1 Feature of July Meeting of Club GRAND ISLAND, July 7 The Grand Island Improvement club held Its regular monthly meeting of business, at the school house Saturday night An interesting patriotic program was given under the direction of the literary chair man, Mrs. Pauline Fowler, and her assistants, Mrs. C. A. Rock hill, Mrs. J. H. Tompkins, and Mrs. Morton Tompkins. At the close of the program, an ice cream social was enjoyed In the basement of the building. A large attendance was present for both. The proceeds from the soc ial were placed in the club treas ury for the future community use. The next meeting will be held Saturday night, August 6, when each family In the club will be responsible for one number on the program. RECOVER FROM MUMPS ZENA. July 7 v7Ilma- and Robei Crawford have recovered from the effects ot the mumps. Their sister Alice is now confined to her home with the malady. The three Crawford children are the. only ones to have the mumps in this neighborhood this season. Lincoln, Just east of Zena has had six or seven cases. Looney Clan Reunion Scheduled for Sunday HAZEL GREEN, July 7 The descendants of WHltam Looney and his wife, Elmira McCluer Looney and Nelson Ransome Doty and wife, Elmira Looney Doty, will, hold their annual picnic at the William Doty farm near Jef ferson, July 10. This farm is Part of the do nation land claim ot Mr. Doty.
