Trinity Church Will Hold Picnic Sunday SILVERTON, July 7 The an nual Sunday school picnic of Trin ity church will be held Sunday at the city park at Sllverton. Morn ing services at the church will be conducted as usual and following this a basket dinner will be en joyed followed by sports, various games, and a social time. L. Jalr 7 la Jus tice court at Sllverton Wednes day Judge Brown placed fines of S50 apiece on H.F. Roth and William Robins, both of whom pleaded guilty Tuesday to posses sion of beer. Judge Brown sus pended sentence daring good be havior. The sentence waa the out growth of arrests made Saturday night when state and local offi cers took a hand la a noisy beer party held at the Robins home on McClalne street. This has been a busy week for Justice Brown. Three trials were held before him , Tuesday after noon. Among these was the case of Elmer Dick who was also ar rested Saturday night In connec- tio- with the Robins "home brew party." Dick was cleared by Judge Brown with a severe warn lng that the next time he should not be so leniently dealt with Dick admitted to the Judge that this wasn't . his first appearance in court but promised .to try to make It his last. A brother of Clifford Ererson. Roy Everson, paid the costs and guaranteed the return of a gun that Clifford was alleged to have borrowed from Lewis McEwen and then sold to Max Crowder of The Dalles. It was brought out that McEwen bad loaned the gun to Everson In all good faith and had. for months 'waited Its retnra. Erersoa was freed an the strength of tha promise of Era eat Crowder, a brbther of the purch aser, to drive to The Dalles Sun day and restore the gun. - ! Henry Hirtel, charged with op erating a ear;: withont a license, appeared before the Judge with plenty of excuses among theta that he was merely takL g his ear to get it weighed for the proper requirements to obtain a license. that he had merely gone op East H11L where he was sighted by Constable Pitney, that there had been a financial depression, and finally that the license had been applied for. July 7The li brary report of the Sllverton pub lic library for June shows that 1140 books were loaned daring the month, that 17 new readers were added: 41 books purchased. 16 books donated and II books removed from circulation. The June donations were made by Prof. Hal Campbell and Mrs. . A. G. Townley. - Mrs. H. B. Latham is chairman of the library board.
