June 4. 1932 1 Society News and Glut airs Church Wedding Large Affair Today A marriage of high Interest to day will be that of Miss Jean Mld dleton, daughter of Mrs. Kathryn Mlddleton, tonvilllam MeCalUster of Medford, son ef Mrs. Mary Mc Callister of Gresham, tonight at S o'clock In the First Methodist church. Dr. Carl Greer Doney assisted by Rev. B. Earle Parker will read the serrlce before a very large number of invited guests. The church Is being decorated In a brilliant manner with pink roses and mock orange and much greenery. Miss Mlddleton will wear a fit ted Princess gown of white satin with puffed sleeves and V neck A tulle Tell will be caught Into a i cap about her head. She will carry a Colonial bouquet with ribbon streamers. Miss Edith Findley, maid of honor, will wear a period frock of green silk organdy. Ruffles will accentuate the elbow sleeves and the skirt finish. Miss Rosalind Van WIn' le and Miss Pauline Findley, bridesmaids, will wear period frocks of Point d'esprlt lace over ruffled taffeta. Miss Van Winkle will be In soft pink and Miss Findley in orchid. The bride-elect and her maids will all wear white lace raits, and carry Colonial bouquets. Mrs. Frances DeHarpport will play the' processional and the re cessional and will play softly dur in the entire ceremony. Miss Elisabeth Clement will sing "Oh Promise Me" and "Until". Brother of the bride-elect, Don Mlddleton. will give her In mar riage. Walter Fuhrer will act as best man for Mr. McCallister Ushers are Alden Miller and Charles Redding of Portland and John Heltsel and Edward Stadter of Salem. Following the ceremony a re ception at the Delta Phi sorority home will compliment the bridal party. Mrs. Claude Campbell of Portland and Mrs. M. C.. Findley will pour. Thev exnect to be at home in Medford by June 15. Prominent in college circles as well as in city life both Miss Mid dleton and Mr. McCallister are well known in Salem. Until re cently Mr. McCallister practiced law in Salem following his grad uation from Willamette law school. He now is practicing law in Medford. Friday evening, June 10, is pre sident's night, when each state president. In a J minute talk will tell of the accomplishments of her state federation, based on the theme. "Carry Your Cargo and Make Tour Port." Officers of the Oregon federation who plan to at tend the convention, are Mrs, Charles N. Bllyeu, president, Mrs. C. E. Wells and Mrs. George G Root, vice presidents, Mrs. E. I Knapp, recording secretary, Mrs. William Kletzer. editor of the Clubwoman, Mrs. Evelyn Wilson Toung the business manager, Mrs C. W. Hayhurst, chairman of the Mothers' aid committee, Mrs. O. C.r Horton. president of the second district, and many others have sig nified their Intention of attending some of the sessions. Mrs. G. B. Bentson, of Silvertos, chairman of Oregon products is arranging for a number of favors for the conven tion. Mrs. Saidie Orr Dunbar, Oregon's candidate for recording secretary of the general federation win be present in her capacity as chairman of the department of public welfare and will preside ovi er three conference luncheons dur ing the convention. The Western Federation made up of the western states will hold their dinner the evening of June 14, when delegates from these eleven states will get together. Each one Is asked to tell some thing of the resources of their own state and the boosting done is most Interesting. Of special interest will be the tea Monday -afternoon, June 13, wnen all the candidates for na tional office will be honored. The Oregon state dinner will be held that evening in the Venetian room of the Olympic hotel. Oregon grape will be used for decorations and the candidates win be initiat ed into the Mystic Order of the Rose, by Evelyn Wilson Young of the Women's Advertising club. Official headquarters for the Ore gon delegation will be at the Olympic hotel, and the convention sessions will be in the civic audi torium. A visit to Bremerton navy yard, the campus of the uni versity of Oregon, and other events will feature the convention JiEW YORK. It j was no secret In Wall street that the bankers were to reveal, after the close, their plana for or ganised baying of securities, and both stocks and bonds rallied eag erly. Extreme gains, ranging from 1 to 5 points, were reduced by most shares, but fixed Income se curities, including preferred equi ties, held buoyantly to the finish. In bonds net gains of several points were numerous. Common stocks cut their rise to an aver age net advance of two points. Profit-taking and belated liqui dation served to dampen ardor generally, although utilities and tobaccos finished with good gains. Trading was active, especially on the ad ranee; transactions totaled 1.S8I.C4Z shares. Consolidated Gas, North Ameri ean, American Water Works, Unit ed Gas Improvement, Pacific Gas ana people's Gas gained 1 to 1 points.
