The luncheon table was center ed with two low bowls of wild orchids arranged in moss, and daf fodils. The entertainment for the Tis lting matrons has been raried and delightful. Monday a visit to tho state school for the blind where an unusually attractive program was given and. Tuesday a visit to the school for the deaf where another program of interest was presented, added a spice of nn nsualness to the round of scenie trips, luncheons and line parties given in compliment to the visi tors. Past Presidents Club Elects The Past Presidents club of the Woman Relief corps met at the home of Mrs. Bessie Martin Wed nesday afternoon and elected of ficers for the coming year.. Mrs. Bertha Loveland will head the group and other officers elect ed were Mrs. Lizzie W. Smith, vice president; Mrs. Jennie B. F. Jones secretary and Mrs. Clara Adams, treasurer, the latter two reelected. At tho tea hour Mrs. Rose Hage dorn assisted Mrs. Martin in serv ing. Present for the afternoon were Mrs. Lizzie W. Smith, Mrs. Helen Southwlck, Mrs. Laura McAdams, Mrs. Rose Hagedorn, Mrs. Ef f ie Dunlap, Mrs. Florence Shipp, Mrs.' Bertha Loveland, Mrs. Clara Adams, Mrs. Jennie F. B. Jones and Mrs. Martin. Mrs. Southwick will be hostess to the group May 11. Silverton Mrs. Nona White did not appear to give her talk as scheduled for the Women's club program at Silverton Monday af ternoon and much regret was ex pressed. Mrs. Ivan Martin was present as a guest of the club Committee, reports were given and Miss Hannah Oisen and Miss Edna Spenker, two Silverton teachers, gave interesting ad dresses. Mrs. George Hnbbs read the paper on Oregon products and Miss Peggy Goplerud gave a piano solo. Group singing with Mrs. Anne Powell as leader was also enjoyed At the tea hour, Mrs. Laura Hubbs presided at the tea table. Gervais The Past Matrons club met at the Masonic hall Tuesday afternoon. A luncheon was served at one o'clock with Mrs. C. T. Brixey and Mrs. Clara Jones as acting hostesses. Those present were Mrs. Ralph Sturgis. Mrs. Romeo Gouley, Mr. E. C Naftzger. Tree Memorial Will Be Planted Today In keeping with the plan of the bl-centennial commemoration of George Washington's birthday the Salem chapter of American War Mothers will plant two trees on the grounds of the Salem general hospital this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The publlfe is invited to attend this ceremonial. Mrs. Sarah Peterson and Mrs. Myrtle Littlefield are the commit tee which have been in charge of the tree planting committee. Mrs. Mabel Lockwood, state president of the American War Mothers and Mrs. Lizabeth Waters, local chap ter president, will speak briefly as part of the dedication services. An attractive birthday party complimented little Miss Lorah Kate Griffith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Griffith at her home on Court street Tuesday afternoon following school hours.
