The next several weeks will also bring to a close several activi ties which have kept the auxiliary ery busy during the winter months. One of the committees which will not function very actively af ter April will be the welfare com mittee, ot which Mrs. J. T. e lanejtis chairman, assisted by Mrs. M. J. Meichior, Mrs. Ona Olson, Mrs. W. P. Watkins. Mrs. Glenn Seeley and Mrs. E. V. Wooten. This committee has drawn from the community service fund along about $850 to date. This has been used for food, milk, and some clothing. This aid has gone to families of ex-service men and to men In need. The civic service committee un der the direction of Mrs. Frank Jirak assisted by Mrs. J. W. Mar erof. Mrs Oscar Poe. Mrs. Glenn Seeley. and Mrs. Glenn Porter have been busy all winter giving assistance at the Marion county health nnit whenever needed, as sisting with the Red Cross drive, aiding In organization of five pa trols of Girl Scouts, working on the' drive for aid of unemploy- " ment. and In the Y. W. C. A. drive for budget funds. Mrs. Jack Porter and her com mittee of Mrs.1 King Bartlett. Mrs. Robert Budrow, and Mrs. Glenn Seeley have paid weekly visits to - the tuberculosis hospital calling a relatives ot ex-service men " who are confined there: they have called, on ex-service men's famil ies located In Salem the beads ot which are In the Veterans hospi tal In Portland; and they are car ing for a War Mother who Is now receiving aid In a hospital. Some of these activities are needed during the entire year while others will become quiet with the spring. Royal Neighbors Plan Anniversary The 33rd year of organization V. for Oregon Grape lodge. No. 1360, Royal Neighbors of Amer ica, will' be observed Monday 'night at Fraternal temple. The anniversary celebration will be preceded by an initiation . ceremony for which all officers of the lodge are . requested to - wear white. In the business ' meeting plans will be discussed for the convention which will be - held in Silverton May 11. Prof. F. KIngsley of Portland will present an Illustrated lecture which is said to be one of the finest of Its kind ever to be given. Professor Kingsley has had a hob by for yean ot taking pictures and developing them into slides which he uses to Illustrate travel lec tures. His. travels have taken htm over the United States and Europe and hla pictures represent . many types of lecture. The lecture- to be given for the Salem women will be "Historic and Seenlc Spots of New England," and wiU treat In detail of locations read about and heard about but not seen by many people. Professor Kingsley was for 30 years superintendent of Evans ton, 111., schools. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and has been a member of several uni versity summer school facuties. He is also an author and lecturer of note. Music will be vocal trio of high school girls, presenting "The Green Cathedral" and "Thank God for a Garden." Creative Theatre Program Tuesday Three one-act plays, comedies of distinction and charm, chosen from Barrett H. Clark's list of the world's best plays, will be pre sented next Tuesday night in the auditorium of the Salem public li brary by the creative theatre sec tion of the Salem Arts league as the league's March program. This patriotic idea will be noted In placing especial em phasis on American music and composers and in making the Washington bicentennial celebra tion a part of music week pro grams." Plans for local observation are not yet complete but are advanc ing rapidly with the aid and co operation of many organizations Junior Hunt Club Plans Dance NE of the anticipated 'events She will be complimented with a "president's breakfast" Tuesday morning at 7 o'clock in the Gray Belle. Monday all B. & P. W. club. Women are especially interested in the radio address over KGW given by Miss Martha Gasch, state president, between 12 and 12:15 o'clock. She will speak on "Wom an's Civic Obligation". Several of the Salem members are expecting to attend the tea with which the Portland club is entertaining this afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. B. Woodruff. The Salem club is being Invited by the Portland club to participate in all its activities but conflicts will prevent this save for the Sunday tea. ' The civic aspect of the celebra tion will be Wednesday night at which the club will give a bene fit for the Y. W. C. A. budget and the public is urged to support this heartily. A playlet is being arran ged entitled "Heaven Will Pro tect the Working Girl", and the characters are being taken by Mrs. J. T. Delaney, Miss Helen Pyson.
