They want opportunity to work; to earn compensation honestly so their children shall not suffer. Salem is now engaged in a well-organized, courageous, constructive move to give men who need work a chance to labor. Every citizen in this community owes to his own self-respect and to other citizens less fortunate, the fullest cooperation in providing needed employment. The Work Promotion committee does not ask one cent of charity from you. It only asks that you find at your home, at your place of business, on your farm, some jobs of work which need to be done. REMEMBER: There are TENS OF THOUSANDS of days9 work which need to be done; Salem citizens have ample reserve moneys and goods to pa for this work. ALL THAT IS NEEDED is the hearty cooperation of every citizen. Plan some needed improvement. Determine how much you can spend. THEN LIST THIS IMPROVEMENT with the Work Promotion commit teemen when you are visited. It is a serious matter when a thousand men need work and find no em ployment. It demands not onlyJhe sympathy, but the courageous, united action of every citizen. In war days you "did your bit" you "came across." You can do so, you WILL do so today "A job for a day will keep hunger at bay" This Full Page Appeal to the Loyal Citizens of Salem for Work is Made Possible by These Men and These Firms Morris Optical Co.
