January 1. 1932 PAGE FIVE III : t . - - ' mm - s ociety Creative Theatre , Group to Start Production Actlre rehearsal of "Panurge's Sheep" and "The Third Man," two one-act plays selected tor'the ini tial work ot the creative theatre section of the Salem Arts league, will start next Thursday evening In the auditorium of the Salem public library. These plans were materialised as a result of the meeting held in the library Thursday evening, at which time the new section came into being. Perry Relgelman is director of the section. Practically all of those respond ing to the Invitation have had pre vious experience as players, aad, -with the keen Interest evidenced. It Is believed that this section will bo quite active. John.. Clifford, president of the Arts league, gave a short talk to those present, stat ing the purpose of the league- and outlining the section work. It Is planned to have the music section under Saul Polinotsky work along with the new section when the plays are ready for presentation. It is also planned, when these three plays have been presented, to start work on original, unpro ducd one-act plays that may be found suitable. The cast for "Panurge's Shep," by Meilhac and Halevy, includes Helen Tyson, Thomas Heaphy, Alice C. Brown and Vernon Stoll. For "The Third Man." a domes tic farce by Roderich Benedlx. German playwright, the cast is: E. J. Peterson, Mrs. E. J. Peter Bon, Greta Schofield and Lillian Potter. . For "Indian Summer," the cast Is Marclay Elsaman, Glendine Ei?aman, Bob Mather and Vernon StolL Clifford Gleason is affiliated with this section. He is interested in designing stage sets. Active Week Ahead For Organizations The week ahead Is being plan ned with many meetings for clubs and organizations. One of the. large meetings will be the 1 oclock luncheon of the American Association of University women at the Elks temple Saturday. At this time Mrs. Richard Scholz, dean of women in Reed college will be the speaker, and will dis cuss a phase of her European travel last . summer. Chapter AB of the P. E. O. sisterhood will meet Monday evening at the apartment of Mrs. R. J. Hendricks in the Roberts apartment. Mrs. Amy Welch, itate organizer, will be present. The Delta Phi Mother's club rill meet at the sorority home on Court street Tuesday after noon. The Salem General hos pital auxiliary will also meet Tuesday at the chamber of com merce. St. Paul's Junior guild will also meet Tuesday with Mrs. Hal Patton.
