MONMOUTH. Nov. 28 The
play production elass of the Ore
gon Normal school pleased a large
audience Thursday afternoon with
two cleverly presented plays.
The first one. "Men Folk," de
picted the tense life in a fishing
village where the women watch
for the fleet to return with their
men. Elizabeth Price as the
grandmother, Mildred Lucas as
the mother-in-law, and Irene
Pugsley as the young bride, each
played her part with rare under
standing. Aided by a realistic
stage setting, off stage roar of the
sea. and sound of the fog horn
for which Dick Webb as stage
manager was responsible they
created an atmosphere tense with
prolonged suspense and anxiety.
Duane Knapp was director of the
Dlay.
The second play, The Melon
Thief, was a lighter type, being
an ancient Japanese play with
out stage properties. Jeanne
Campbell as the owner of the
melon patch, "and Lucille Fisher
as the thief, were particularly
amusing in their impersonations
Lois Vernon was director; and
Lucille Fisher was stage man
ager.
