called Azalea Mucronulatum and
opens Its flowers with the forsy-

branches of the shrub are heav

will reach a height of around
five feet.
Another shrub this a tiny one
which is not so very well
known'ls the Daphne Cneorum.
A particularly nice thing about
it Is that it blooms twice a year
ia the spring and again in an
turns. It is moro spreading In
habit than upright although it
stands about 12 inches high. It
Is good for planting at tho edge
of a garden or in the rockery or
even in front of other shrub

early June and in October it Is
covered with - fragrant pink bios

How many of yon aro ac

can notice them so frequently in
florists' windows. Not long ago
I saw an Interesting addition to
the ordinary fish-bowl garden
(Ton understand.; of course, that
the aquatic garden to which
refer, does not ' harbor fish?).
An umbrella-sedge, or umbrella
plant, was potted in a small
flower pot and this was sunk

fish bowl.
Another interesting indoor gar

a glass bowl that had a cover on

Fall Is a good time for tree

taxen In preparing the soU and
sotting the tree tn the ground.
Hut. equally vital is that lt bo
set in the right place to do its
fnU duty.
It yon know just what a tree
Is to do, lt is easy to select tho
variety you need, and the location
for It. Perhaps it is Intended to
frame the view of the house.
Then it should grow to tho prop
er height, when mature, so that
it Is In scale with the house, and
It should have a crown so shaped

several locations which will be
most satisfactory for shade.

planted to cast the desired shade;
having In mind always the shape

Trees hare divers beauties, and
different varieties may be com

of the variety in your locality is
important It never pays to plant
kinds that are likely to be killed,
or usually fat! to thrive. Varieties
less rare, but happier In their
