H. Arer 111, state Insurance commissioner. The report waa filed" with OoYer nor Meter. ; These companies collected an aggregate of 140,573,438 in pre miums and paid $1. 601,824 in loss claims during the year. Of the total amount of insur ance outstanding on December 31. 1930. approximately . 1J0 stock tire and underwriting sub sidiaries and 30 mutual fire com panies carried an aggregate of 31,350.899,635 or more than one half of the total insurance. Seren-ty-eight life Insurance companies carried $713,834,190 or 467.363 Oregon j policyholders. Thirty mutual lire com panies carried a total of S19G,- 000.000 and $147,321,158 or 7S.2 per cent of this amount was by six Oregon mutuals. The 1930 loss ratios for the domestic mu- uals was 55.3 per cent and that for foreign mutuals 89.5 per cent while the Tolume of fire insur ance business transacted by stock fire companies showed a reduc tion of eight hundredths of one per cent, for 1930 as compared o IS 21. and net losses Increased 5.5 per cent. -The amount of fire insurance la force at the close ot 1930 was 359.621.591 in excess of the are rage for the prerions fire-year period. 1925 to 1929. and the net losses paid were 8 per cent in excess ot the previous fire-year average. Premiums collected In 1930 to talled 322.271,764, representing an Increase ot 4 per cent orer the receipt for 1929 and 21.S per cent over the yearly average for the five-year period Immediately preceding. During 1920 the department issued 651 licenses to insurance companies, including additional titles, and 18,217 agents licenses, a reduction in the latter case of 67 5. as compared to 1921. Thirty six new companies were admitted to the state during the report year and there were IT with drawals, making a net gala ot 19 companies licensed to transact business in Ortgon. The total departmental receipts from all sources tor 1920 amounted to $843,147.34 and the disburse ments amounted to 140,726.79 leaving a cash balance ot 3802.- 408.55 which jr as turned into the general fond of the state treasury. While the volume ot revenue for 1930 Increased 3.2 per cent over that of 1929 and the clerical work Incidental thereto la pro portion, the reports tates, the ra tio ot disbursements to revenue Increased but nine tenths of one per cent. When the de nouncement came 19 of the Molly Magulres went to the gallows. . That la the way the 30 youthful secret service men here are work ing. They are known to few on the force except their Immediate superiors. They never loiter around police stations.
