' tion Rites are Today
Tomorrow marks an epoch in
the history of tho First Charcta of
- the Nasareno of Salem aa this is
the date of dedication of its new
; home located at the corner of 13 th
and Center streets.
! - .This building which has been
' under construction for the r past
two months. -This spring the
building; committee of the local
congregation, purchased this loca-
tion formerly occupied by the Cen
' ter Street Methodist - Episcopal
church. The interior of the old
. building was tern out and an addi
. tion 24 feet by 40 feet was built
on the east end and the whole
4 building reconstructed inside and
outside girlng the- appearance of
an entirely new building but at a
: great sarins; in cost. .
' The new building Is 40 feet by
11 feet and the auditorium in
cluding balcony has a total seating
'capacity of 600. The auditorium
is semi-bowl shaped and the wall
lighting fixtures and rich carpet
texture sires a beautiful Interior
effect. The basement is dirided
into ; Sunday school assembly
rooms atfd class rooms and besides
these there are two rooms in the
tower of the bulletin.
Much Issbor Donated -The
total cost ef reconstruction
was 13.000 and the original pur
chase price of the building and lot
was -$5,090. The building eom-
mlttee composed of W. B. Hardy,
: Frank Litwiller. . John Friesen.
; Clyde Hoffer, and Alfred Schroe
' der. baa succeeded, admirably in
. securing the double object of beau
; ty and economy in the new build-
ing. A great - saying has been
, made through donation labor by
members and friends of the
:. church and by liberal discounts
from those furnishing materials.
Rer. Fletcher Galloway Is pas-
' tor of the church, coming to Sa
lem from Pueblo, Colorado last
August. He gare the construction
of a new building as one of his
first objectlres when he arrired in
'' Salem and is rery well pleased
' that the loyalty of the congrega-
tioa has made this possible in less
than a year.'
