Hearty coperation from Salem -business
men is being recelred by
Capitol Post No. 9 in its prepara
tions for a big July 4 celebration.
J. T. Delaney. general manager
ot the celebration said yesterday. ,
"We're Just 'tickled pink by
the reaction of the folks here."
Delaney commented. 'For . In
stance a business man of consid
erable standing here said this
week he was rery pleased that the
legion bad taken hold of the cel
ebration and thought it should
have been done before.
Many Salem residents hare told
the legion men they would not
travel to the coast this summer
on the July 4 weekend but would
stay here, saving a long trip,
hard driving throngh crowds and
considerable expense. To justify
people staying in town for the
celebration, the legion haa pack
ed a score of events into the pro
gram at the fairgrounds.
Delaney said a general admis
sion of SO een
s would be charged
but no tickets
will be required of
children up to 14 years ot age.
Admission to
the grandstand for
all events will
be without charge.
