A 2-9-16-23-30 MARKET RDAD TAX The right of a county to lery taxes for market road purposes Is not taken away by an act of the last legislature eliminating the one-mill market road tax, accord ing to an opinion handed down by Attorney General Van Winkle Wednesday. The attorney general held that a county always has the right to levy taxes tor the construction of roads, whether they be designated as market roads or not, He said he found no law which would prevent the use of general fund money for redemption of market road warrants. In reply to another question. Attorney General Van Winkle held that any market road tax would come under the six per cent limitation. The engineers decided to gath er data as to the amount of elec tricity that would be sold to the state under normal conditions, the .cost of oneratlnr 'the nlant. and th saving that would reeuUl to- the state based on presenH costs of electricity.
