The domestic light and
power rates of the Pepco
are among j the lowest in
the United States:
The present average rate
for "Home Service" of all
kinds for Pepco customers
is 3.17 CENTS PER KILO
WATT HOUR.
As compared with this,
the general average rate
for the whole United States
is 6.05 cents per kwh., or
nearly twice the average
rate paid by oar customers.
It is also well known
that Pepco industrial pow
er rates are the lowest in
the country, with only two
exceptions Buffalo and
Tdcoma,

good citizenship promoting development of bettpr in
dustrial commercial and domestic business conditions
in Salem and this section of the Willamette valley.
What is now the Pepco entered this progressive
and prosperous territory , in J 907 by the purchkse of
the street railway system, gas plant and lighting plants
ai oaiem ana onverton.
It immediately began - an extensive program of
construction and improvements with the traditional
desire of providing equipment and facilities jo be
ready to meet every public service requirement !as de
manded. This policy has been continued throlfgh all
these years and will be continued. ; : j , (:
From 1 907 to 1 930 the number of light anc pow
er customers has been increased from 350 ltd nearly
12,000. M " f i
The Willamette Valley Division, witn" Headquar
ters at Salem, operates 'property devoted to public
service with a value of approximately $2,000,000.
The number of employes is 98, with a mfanthly
payroll of about $ 1 3,000.;
This division now serves Salem, West Salem j Sil
verton, Mt. Angel, Woodburn, Gervais, TurnerjiPrat
um, Monitor and Brooks, and their surrounding terri
tory. Power is also sold to the Molalla Electrid; Com
pany, which serves the towns between Woodburn
and Canby. . 1 !
