1 Society Annual Guest fDay Is Delightful Event : -.- . f f -. - : One of the prettiest and most social affairs of the year for chapter A. B. of the P. E. O. sis terbood U its annual guest day. This - was obserred at- the home of Mrs. E. E. Fisher. Thursday .afternoon. The guests rooms were de lightfully arranged with tall lighted tapers, and bowls of yel low acacia and purple heather. Presiding at the tea table during ' the tea hour was Mrsj F. A. El liott and Mrs. C. A. Sprague. A group of piano numbers played by Mrs. A. GroTer Birtehet will giro the address of the day. e Local Artists Give MacDbwell Program Miss Dorothy Pearce, pianist, and Miss Lena Belle Tartar, con tralto, will giro the February pro gram of J the Salem MacDowell club Monday night in Waller hall of Willamette unlrersity. Miss Pearce will play in re cital at this time for the first ap pearance since her return from a tour of Europe last, winter, fol lowed by a period of study under Francis Moore, a younger teacher of note In New York. Miss Pearce retained to Salem in -June. , The program which Miss Pearce has planned is Tepresentatire of the Tory old artists. Bach and Rameau, and of the eighteenth centnrr artist, and her third group Is typically modern. . The numbers to be played rep resent the lighter and happier mu sical work of each period from which ther are taken and the numbers of both Miss Pearce andi Miss Tartar are for the most part entirely new on Salem programs. .This program promises to be one of genuine interest and mu sical beauty. - Monmouth.
