US YET INCOMPLETE
Whether or not Population
Will Show Increase is
Problematical
Whether or not Marion coun
ty's school enumeration now be
ing completed will show an In
crease Is a matter subject almost
to flip of a coin, so far as can
be determined from -census re
ports which hare been checked.
Some districts show a large In
crease, others report a big drop,
and still others remain about the
same as last year, so the county
superintendent has little Idea of
how the final compilation will
swing. On the face of present re
turns. Supt. Mary I Fulkerson
expects an Increase.
At Silverton, .there Is a gain
over last year, with 1219 reported
this year as against .1179 last
year. West Stayton also reports
a nice gain, with 132 this year as
compared to 104 last year.
Roserlale Slumps Large
Rosedale dropped almost a hun
dred Per cent, with 78 oh the roll
last year and only 37 this year. A
similar situation is reported for
Talbott, which has 37 this year
and had 51 last year.
Scotts Mills enumeration shows
a nice gain this year, with 115 as
against 80 last year. The Salem
Heights district has- lost some
school children, with 168 on the
count just completed, as compar
ed to 183 a year ago.
Liberty's annual census shows
a drop of one orer last year, with
195 now.
Neither the El-horn or Bridge
Creek districts had any school
children residing there when the
census was taken. There were
none In the Bridge Creek district
last year either, and the Elkhorn
district had but four.
