The Salem Chamber music so ciety announces that the date of the next concert to be gtren by the Nea Kah Nie quartet with Mrs. William Burghardt, pianist, as guest artist, has been changed to December 4. This change was made necessary because of a con flict in dates for the quartet. The concert, which, following the beautiful program given as " the first of the quartet's presenta tlons in Salem this year at the C. -p. Bishop home last Tuesday eve ning is one of the most anticipat ed musical events of the year. At the regular monthly board meeting of the Oregon 'Federa tion of Music clubs held at the Sign of the Rose Tearoom in Portland November 5, an an nouncement was made by Miss Helen Calbreath. president, that the National Federation of Music clubs was offered a prise of $300 to the state federation sending the largest representation to the biennial national convention in San Francisco in June, 1 1931. Silverton Folk Have Busy Week Silverton A number of pleas ure clubs and groups have enjoy ed social activities during the past ' few days. Among these were the "As Ton Like It" club which Mrs. O. E. Lane entertain ed at .her home with an after noon party. Contests were spon sored and Mrs. Lester Cooper was winner of the grand prise. Mrs. Andrew Hall of Howell Prairie was an additional guest. .The Happy Go Luojry club members were guests of ' Mrs. Clarence Morley Friday afternoon when a number of tables of "500" were in play. Mrs. D. Hasklns won high score and to Mrs. Ruth Oveross the consolation prize. Mrs. J. H. McCulIough and Mrs. E. V. Johns were hostesses at a bridge party at the home of Mrs. Johns Friday evening. Woman's Al liance of the Unitarian church In the Emerson room of the chnreh Friday. Her talk had to do with the possibilities of the Alliance for service and of the accomplish ments of the Portland alliance. Reports were also made by va rious committee chairmen and several special reports were made. It was decided that the Alliance will devote part of its efforts this winter toward sewing for Salem General hospital. Following the program and business meetings a tea hour was enjoyed.
