At the close of the business meeting the auxiliary was invited Into the Eagle Aerie room to hear two interesting lectures, one by D. D. Hail, president of Portland Aerie No, 4, and one by Ed Big- low. The business meeting and pro gram was conducted with refresh ments at a late hour for which both the Eagles ewf auxiliary were guests. The next meeting of the auxil iary will be October 29, with Mrs. Nellie Pierce in charge of the so cial hour. !Aurora. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Bradtl. entertained the "500" club of Canby Wednesday eve ning, at their home on the Pa cific highway. This social club i has been in existence about 20 j years, with some minor changes : in the personnel. The Bcadtls lived in Canby until the last few : years, when they moved to their j present home north of town, but ' they have always retained their membership in this cjub. Winn Addresses Club An interesting meeting for the Town and Gown club was that held at Lausanne ball Thursday afternoon with about 40 mem bers of the club present. The pro gram included solos tung by Miss Josephine Albert accompan ied by Miss Miriam" Armitage and an address on "Glimpses of Russia" by Prof. Ralph Winn. In speaking of Russia Prof. Winn ventured the opinion that there ' are psychologically two distinct classes in Russia today and that as soon as Russia im proves in her Ideals she will give up communism and a new and better Russia will be the result. Prof. Winn characterized the Russians as. people ready to take up new ideas and pointed out that because of this there are many changes ahead for the country. Adult education is one of the greatest needs of the Rus sians today according to Prof. Winn. A short business meeting was held following the program and election of officers returned all the officers of last year to office again and the committees will re main the same. Mrs. E. C. Cross i -. president and Miss Olive Dahl secretary treasurer. Tea was served by the hostess committee for the afternoon, Mrs. S. B. Lauchlin, Mrs. B. L. Steeves, Mrs. Ilarry Swafford, and Mrs. Charles Johnson. Pythian Sisters Celebrate Anniversary Pythian sisters, Centralia tem ple No. 11 observed a social eve ning at Fraternal temple with Knights of Pythias, Central lodge No. 18 as special guests Tuesday evening. A program of music and readings in charge f Mrs. Myrtle Burk was an inter esting feature of the evening.' Refreshments were served at a late hour by the social com mittee of Mrs. May Acklln, Mrs. Susie Parnienteer, and Mrs. Az zel Hixson. The next meeting will be a social event October 28. Late in the afternoon Mrs. Adams served tea. Mrs. W. A. Pettit of the Court apartments, left Wednesday night for Detroit, Michigan, where she will spend two weeks visiting with Mr. Pettlfs parents. She later will go to Minneapolis, Minn., where she will spend two or three weeks with relatives. On her way home she will visit friends at Butte, Montana, and Spokane, Wash. j4 S3 Affairs Hallowe'en Dance Is Pretty Event A delightful dancing party of the week was that given In the Silver Grille room of the Gray belle with Miss Irene Johnson as hostess, Wednesday evening. Autumn flowers and leaves and small card tables over which played the soft lights of the fire place and the glow of shaded el ectric lights made a delightful setting for the evening of danc ing and cards. Prizes for cards were won by Miss Martha Jean Dixexm for the women and Herbert Schaeffer for the men. A late supper was served following cards. Illihee Club Members To Dance Saturday Members of the Illihee coun try club will enjoy the first dance of the season for the club members Saturday night at the clubhouse. The clubhouse has just been redecorated and this dance will be a house warming in compliment te this as well as the first dance of the year. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Woodrow, Mr. and Mrs. David Adolph and Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Stewart are the decorating committee W. G. 8tac6y, LeRoy Guards, Theron Hoover, V. E. Kuhn, and m Bert ram Thomson are the entertain ment committee. There will be some entertain ing either before or after the dance among the members. One dinner party that is planned for after the dance is that for which Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Stacy will be tests. Pythian Sisters Have Social Evening Hubbard. An event of much pleasure was -the joint celebra tion of the forty-second birthday anniversary of Pythian Sisters by members of Arion temple and the silver wedding anniversary of Mr. aud Mrs. P.ussell C. Pain ter. at the Pythian hall Tuesday evening. Fifty-five persons, including nenibers of the temple, Knights of. Pythias, Odd Fellows and Re bekats' and other Invited guests were present. The hall was made attractive for the occasion with autumn leaves ind flowers. Miss Anita Bevens entertained with a piano 6olo. A burlesque wedding cere mony with Mr. and Mrs. Paint er, the bride and groom, Mrs. Ella Stauffer, the best man. El ton McLaughlin, bridesmaid. Mrs. Ellen Carl, the minister, Mrs. Margaret McMannis and Mrs. Anna Stauffer, ring and train bearers, and Miss Anira. Bevens, the pianist, caused an uproar of laughter. Mrs. Ella Stauffer sang "I Love You Truly,' accompanied by Miss Anita Bevens. Mr. and Mrs. Painter were presented with a lovely gift by the organizations represented. The presentation was made by Mrs. Cobie deLespinasse. Games followd by refresh ments completed a delightful evening. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Mackenzie and Mrs. A. M.
