reactions and fell 50 cents to
$23.50 for No. 2, 38-Ib. white.
No. 2, 45-lb. B.W. was the same
price.

POTATO MARKET IS
FIRM, LIGHT CROP
PORTLAND. Sept. 13. (AP)
Portland wholesale butter and
egg markets remained un
changed Saturday in ton and
nrice. Moderate volume of early
day business was reported for
each. Butter receipts continued
greater than a week ago.
High lights of the fruit and
vegetable trade were given by
the government market newt
service as follows:
Potatoes are very firm, as the
result of the recently released
crop estimate figures, which
Bhowed a tentative reduction ot
33 million bushels in the na
tion's production. Sharp ad
vances are entirely possible,
within the next few days. Yak
ima growers are refusing offers
of $30.00 per ton for No. Is.
Dillard cantaloupes continue
to realize a premium over com
petitive stock in eastern mar
kets; but in most markets, there
are still liberal supplies of home
grown cantaloupes.
Local demand for head lettuce
is improving, with light receipts
of home-grown stock. Seattle is
shipping considerable volume ot
lettuce, peas, and cauliflower to
Portland.
