bought the paper from F. P. Row
ley last spring, has sold the pa
per this week to Mr. and Mrs.
Charles S. Clark of Aumsyille.
Mr. Clark will continue to edit
the Aumsville Star and will do

fire fighting equipment and
methods has reduced Oregon Ore
losses nearly 50 per cent since
127, Governor A. W. Norblad
said in an address at the dedi
cation ot the new ' Graham fire
hall here Tuesday.
The gorernor quoted state rec
ords on the efficiency of modern
tire fighting and strongly en
dorsed fire schools such as the
one being held here in connec
tion with the annual session of
Oregon fire chiefs.

instructor at the University of
Oregon Tuesday was held to the
grand jury under $1,000 bonds
ia connection with the automobile
accident Saturday in which E. J.
Shewmaker, 60, was fatally In
jured. The coroner's Jury returned a
verdict finding "a woman respons
ible for the accident" but did not
name the instructor.

Woman to Cook
PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 20.
(AP) Mrs. I. V. Sater, Portland,
reported to police a man entered
her home, drew a revolver, and
ordered her to cook a meal.
Mrs. Sater complied while the
man watched ber, gun la hand.
When the food was ready, the man
placed his gun on the table, ate
the meal in silence and then left.

WALLA WALLA. Wash.. Aug.
2 (AP) The end of one chap
ter ef the Centralia Armlstlc day
killings of 1919 will be written
within a tew days with the re
lease from the penitentiary of
Loren Roberts, one of the defend
ants. The release of Roberts was or
dered yesterday by Judge Wil
liam Campbell at Montesano.
Roberts was found not guilty
because ot Insanity and ordered ,
transferred to the Insane ward
at the penitentiary.
Ten years later, last March, a
Jury found him sane after his
sanity had been certified by the
prison physician.
