WOODBURN. July It S. R.
Harper, local . watchmaker, was
taken to a hospital In Salem Mon
day morning, suffering from In
juries he received Sunday even
ing when he was struck down by
an automobile driven by W. P.
CalUard, route eight, Salem. The
accident occurred at the corner
where Tonne street meet First.
Both the car and Harper were
going west on Young street be-
for the accident occurred. Har
per, not seeing the ear, stepped in
front of it before Calllard could
stop. He was taken to -Layman's
Cosy Corner across the street un
til Dr. G. B. Smith could be call
ed. He had received a scalp
wound, and was also cat on tha
knee and hand. Harper was tak
en to Salem Monday morning by
Dr. Smith.
No one is blamed for the acci
dent as it was dusk when- it oc
curred. Harper's hearing Is not
good and he probably was not
aware of the car's presence.
