It is situat ed close to tbe Mellow Moon dance hall. Art Akers, popular local boy, Is featured in the main event against Eddie Edleman, scrappy Eskimo from Montia. Alaska. Though Edleman's reputation suggests that Akers Is in for a tough ten rounds or less, it is also pertin ent to remark that this is the first time the West Salem boy has been mached at anywhere near his own weight. Akers gave a good account of himself in Salem against Ted Fox, Pat Dundee and-Jack Kentworth as well as against leas noted ad versaries in semi final bouts, and many of the fans. consider him a coming champion at his weight. The management has lined up Freddie Stone of Los Angeles and Jackie 0,Brieir'of Seattle for the six round "semi final. From the eighth to the 13th inning it was looked at eight all, but both teams scored in the 13th, Dallas getting in a real rally in ltd half. Plunkett, Monmouth player, was responsible for the extra in nings. Dallas was leading 4 to 2 in the eighth when Plunkett came up and smacked out a homer with one man on ahead of him. Batteries: Monmouth. Coan and Nelson; Dallas, Hudson and Syfon. The Monmouth team will play the O. N. S. tossers in a five in ning game at 6 o'clock Tuesday night. Sunday's game was the second the local team, managed by Philip Schweitzer, has lost out f about eight played. Primo CaYner a won his first big start Monday night, but it was a fizzle much like the one which gave Max Schmeling, fellow Euro pean, the world heavyweight championship at Xcw York recently. Carnera, taking up most of the floor space, writh ed like a featherweight after a swinging left hook thudded low in his groin. He squirmed and contorted and ended up limp and unconscious to be dragged uncere moniously by the head and heels to his corner. Godfrey, a huge smiling negro of some fighting ability, wander ed around in the same perplexed fashion as at the close of so many recent "big battles." Dr. J. Webb Vaughn, physician of the Penn sylvania athletic state commis sion, examined the vast Venetian in the ring and found that "he was fouled, badly hurt and unable to continue. Deliberate, Kays Referee Tom Riley Referee Tom Riley, who hand led the struggle in the rain the night Gene Tunney stripped the heavyweight title robes from Jack Dempsey here In 1926, said the blow was a "deliberate foul." As for the fight Itself there was much action but little of a decisive nature through the first four rounds and the one minute, 13 seconds the fifth lasted. On the Associated Press score card, God frey had a margin in the first, sec ond and a slight edge in the fourth with Carnera the better man in the third. There were no knockdowns although Carnera was staggered in the first round. There was sinister rumblings in the crowd tha.t paid about $160- 000 to Bee the class of the two biggest men ever to face each oth er in a prize ring. Although God frey entered the fray as an 8 to favorite, according to gossip. there were many predictions from those who seemed to know that the bout would end between the fourth and sixth rounds.
