Butter prices displayed a consid
erable firmer undertone today,
but no changes were announced In
quotations. Sappltes were less
than, previously and demand for
storage appeared brisker. Pre
miums were reported paid by
some lor 92 score product.
Because of low prices, there
has been a good demand for eggs,
but not' sufficient to absorb all the
supplies. Prices continue irregu
lar. Reviewing the fruit and yege
table situation, the Portland bu
reau of the U. S. department of
agriculture says: .
"The summer fruits and vege
tables melons, berries, cucum
bers, etc.. are meeting with ra
ther slow demand this week;
meanwhile, the cool weather
standbys. as apples and potatoes,
continue in good remand. Rain
has delayed strawberry ripening
again, and receipts are light. Pro
duction will increase again with
warm weather, though.
"The potato market shows fair
activity, and new California
stock shows a stronger undertone,
with a few sales at hlzher Drices.
