Teacliers Back From Valsetz Training Work VALSETZ, May 15 Louise Hnry, practice teacher in the first and second grade room and Miss Arab. Well Arnold from the sventh and eighth grade room have returned to Monmouth. Miss Martha Herman, who was training in the fifth and sixth grade room, was transferred into the first and second grade room and will remain there until the ead ot this school year. Miss Margaret Jones is the new practice teacher in the fifth and eixth grade room. military headquarters Amy life has aa lrreslstable anpeal to her. Betty ixu believes that one ot the greatest thrills of her life was experienced last, spring when, as queen of Ue Amity high school May festival, saw wae in the aero plane that dropped the baseball for the game on that day. In order to drop the ball on the field it was necessary for the plane to go through some of the bombing maneuvers. Cantata Bill Forbls, who was pilot of the plane, is an ex-army aviator and the ball was dropped- on the field almost at the feet of the umpire. Captain Forbls said that he had never had a passenger who seemed to enjoy a flight more than did Queen' Betty Lou. Cer tainly ir ahe does not become a private secretary Miss Finn will be an aviatrlx . In addition to her other activi ties Miss Finn takes an active part in dramatic work In high school, playing character parts and being much In demand for readings. MY TIME II IT 1CUHI MACLEAT. Ruth Darr, who teaches the Victor Poina school, visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Darr Saturday and Sunday. Mr.-and Mrs. Clarence Boling' were the dinner guests of Mr. and 1 Mrs. Burtis of Shaw. Mrs. Lysle. who is kerning at the boys training school, visited her sister, Mrs. Carrutheits, Thursday. Emily Brack and Armella Hackett went to Salem Saturday on business. The Misses Elsie and Elinor Boling visited with the Misses Francis and Mildred Darr, Sun day. Ida Martin of Salem was the guest of Mrs. Carl Brack, Sunday. mm mm HELD AT MONMOUTH School 'Kids? Vacate When Exams Develop UNOOLN, May 15 The Liiri coin school children are enjoying a two days vacation while the seventh and eighth grades are writing the state examination. Miss Mabel Thomas, the teach er, was giving examination to the eight grade Wednesday. Those writing were Genevieve Walling, Dorothy Walling, Let ha Willson, Clifford Walling and Dwaln Mc Klnney. Miss Thomas will not return to Lincoln school next year, as ahe has been elected to teach near Corrallis. MONMOUTH. May 15 (Spe- cial) The Alibi Archers' club ot Monmouth is sponsoring a state invitational archery tournament to be held here Saturday. May 24, to which all -who are interested in archery are invited. Registra tion for the events will be held at 9 o'clock a.m.. on the archery grounds and the team shoot for men will begin promptly at 9:30. L. L. Dally, instructor of arch ery at the Oregon Normal school. and president of the Alibi Arch ers' organization, says he expects keen competition on tne tiigni event for men since a number, of men over the state have reported individual records this spring of 380 to 400 yards, which exceed the national record made by Dr. George A. Cathay of Portland at the Santa Barbara national tour nament last summer. The men's division will Include entries in the team, clout and flight shoot; and York round. The boys' division: the elout, flight and junior American round. The student division will permit stu dents both men and women to enter the other divisions under their own classification. Gold and silver medals will be awarded as trophies for first and second place winders in the men's and women's divisions; and a spe cial silver cup trophy for the first place winners for men and "women in the student division. Two silver cups will be award ed for first places in flight events tor men and women; one ot these trophies being the A. E. Coleman cap for women. An innovation will be featured in the Novice classification, for those who have never before par ticipated m a tournament, and Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Frost of Moscow, Idaho are ottering special prizes for entrant winners. Many com mercial awards will be presented to the winners ot the various oth er events. Lincoln Women Enjoy Session Of State Meet LINCOLN. May 15 Mrs. C. C. Grimm attended the mock ses sion of the representatives given by members of the state federa tion of women's clubs Monday night in the house of represent atives.
