Egg aad butter prices remained
weak and unchanged today.
In fruits, oranges were S5e a
box higher, ranging from 14.25
to II, according to size';, and In
vegetables cabbage has soared to
eight cents a pound.
.Reviewing the general fruit
and vegetable situation, the Port
land bureau ot the Unite4 States
department agriculture says:
"Cool weather continues to de
lay maturity ot cauliflower at
Roseburg, with, the result that
Portland's supply is light, and the
market continues firm. Only one
carlot shipment hag been made
from that district, and little ship
ping activity4 is expected until next
week.
"Apples are moving slowly, for
all classes except the cheaper sorts
which can be sold to retailers and
peddlers at II or less per box
Even this poorer etock is showing
only moderate movement, there
by prolonging the marketing per
iod for these lots. Wrapped and
packed apples are eontlned mostly
.to Winesaps and Yellow Newtons,
with a tew supplies ot Delicious,
Arkansas Blacks, and other rar
letles. Spltzenberg stocks are
about depleted.
"Asparagus of the same grade
that sold at 2 So per lb. la Califor
nia Is selling to Portland retailers
at 10 cents obviously an unprof
itable margin.
"Hothouse rhubarb from Puget
Sound points, which costs Port
land Jobbers 12.17 per 20-lb box
of extra fancy stock, is selling to
