Beard sley will be pleased to learn of her convalescence from her recent nerious illness. Her daughter, Mrs. T. B. Morgan has been wtth her for some time. The Beaxd sleys are old time residents of Keizer, but of late years have made their home in Klamath Falls. H. W. Bowden aqd daughter violet recently motored to Los An geles, California, to visit .with Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Cutter. Mrs. Cutter was 'formerly Doris Bow den. who was employed for a number of years in the State Ac cident department. They expect to be away for a couple of weeks. . The electric line is being ex tended from the corner west of the Keizer school, north to Fred McCall's place, which will furnish lights to a number of homes, only seven, however, have signified their intention of connecting up, Charles Weather's place w-hich he has rented, Obed Frogley, Wm. Dec. 14 Howard Friend, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Friend, underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Doctor Mount Hospital at Oregon City Thursday. Howard who is a stu dent at the Woodburn high school had been ill at his home for sev eral days prior to the operation. Last reports are that he is doing as well as could be expected. The Camp Fire Girrs worked on their Christmas plans at the regu lar Thursday night meeting at the home of the president, Miss Helen Knight. Other members present were Miss Beryl Bfosser. Guardian, Miss Marion Carlson, Miss Agatha Voget. Miss Marjorie Wolfer. Miss Geraldine Carlson. Miss Marion McKenzie, and Miss Anna Knight. The last clinic to be held In Hubbard by the child health demonstration was held at the Pythian hall Wednesday after noon. Dr. Edward Russell of the Marion county health demonstra tion examined children of pre school age also several pupils from the Hubbard school. Hutchison received the sad news of the serious illness of her moth er, at the home of her brother In Los Angeles, Calif., and left Wed nesday, for that place to be with her. Mrs. Hutchinson's mvrther was coming from Kansas to visit her daughter here, and on the way suffered a stroke of paraly sis. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Farrington and two children, Mrs. Freed Barna and two sons Garry and Etllle wore, shopping in Salem Wednesday. C. M. Smith left for Wasco. December 14. At the regular meeting of the cham ber of commerce it was decided to ask the people of Stayton to dec orate both their business and resi dence property for the holidays. One or two homes were decor ated last year and many favorable comments were heard. A com mittee was named to look after the matter 'and prizes. Among those who will give prizes is the Mountain States Power company, which is said to be willing to con tribute two prizes worth at least SI 5 each. Other worthwhile prizes will be awarded. The judges have not yet been chosen, but will be com petent to do the work. Award ing of the prizes for the business houses will be made December 24 and the residences December 31. A grandmother and her grand daughter, both residents of Mon mouth, and with a half century span between their respective ages, are students of the Oregon Normal school this term. They are Mrs. Eugenia Snyder, 7, and Miss Agnes Sheeon, 17. Mrs. Snyder was born near Statesvllle, N. Northeastern state normal, completing the work of the prep aratory department in 1910. Since coming to Monmouth in JI20 she has served n night operator of the Willamette Telephone com pany: and In 1922 was graduat ed . from the Oregon Normal school. She then taught a three month's term of school at Lexing ton. Moro county, but soon re turned to the night operator Job where she continues to efficiently serve the people of Monmouth. She is teacher of the high school girls' class In the Sunday school of the Evangelical church, and this fall re-entered the Normal registering for a course In relig ious education. Her grand daughter. Miss Agnes Sheeon. was born at Coll bran, Colo., in 1912, and has at tended the Monmouth schools since her fifth grade year. Last June she -was graduated from the Monmouth high school, and is now taking the regular standard course at the Normal, majoring In English. Incidentally, the Monmouth telephone exchange is entirely operated by member of - Mrs. Snyder's family. A daughter, Mrs. Guy Sheeon, the mother of Agnes, is chief operator. Mrs. O. H. Sny der, another daughter is day op erator; and Agnes works in the office on special shifts, A third daughter. Miss Francis Snyder, was formerly chief operator here for several years, but now is teaching In the commercial de-. partment of the Cushman, Ore gon, high school. Mrs. Snyder believes that go ing to school should not belong as a privilege to any individual In relation to age. but should be considered by every mature mind ed individual if it may serve as an adjunct toward the better and more effective rendering of serv ice to one's fellowmen.
