The city of Salem welcomez as its guests the members of the American
Legion, members of Legion Auxiliary, and friends who assemble here to
day for the Eleventh Annual Convention. It is an honor to entertain an or
ganization born out of the consecration of patriotic service in war time
and sustained by active and vigorous interest in national and local wel
fare. Salem is host for the occasion. It throws wide its gates and bids hearty
welcome. The public structures here, the capitol, the institutions are the
property of all. are yours as much as Salem's, and all are open for your in
spection. Salem's homes, stores, industries, theatres, resorts, are eager to
show the warmest hospitality to the Legionnaires, their families and
friends. .
The Statesman of fers this Special edition in honor of the Legion Con
vention and the Dedication of the Salem Airport an expression of
the keen interest of Salem people and business firms in the activities ot
these three days,
