1 3 YEARS IN SALEM
In June 1915, a small store was started on Lib
erty Street by Kafoury Bros. The little store
was occupied about six months when it became
necessary to move to larger quarters, so the
business moved to 416 State Street. After four
years in this location they had to look for a still
larger store to accommodate the fast growing
business and in 1919 Kafoury Bros, moved to
466 State Street.' Here they remained -until
March 15th, 1929, when they moved to a com
pletely modern store at 255 N. Liberty Street.
In 1922 a Silk Store was opened in Portland and
in 1927 Kafoury's entered the Department
Store field in Springfield; on May 1st, 1929,
this store was moved to Eugene, Oregon.
Kafoury's now have three thoroughly modern
home stores for women, located in Salem, Port
land and Eugene. Through service and the
handling of high quality merchandise at rea
sonable prices, Kafoury's hope to continue to
grow that they may serve their communities
better.
