cert on his big calendar.
Usually the first concert is held
late in June but Steelhammer has ,
been reluctuant to set the opening
date until the weather was more j
settled.
Two concerts are held each
week, one on Tuesday and one on
Friday night. Twenty-five mem
bers of the band hare been work
ing for several months preparing :
for the summer season.

Four Salemites will be included
in the Upton Close tour of the ori
ent this summer, it was learned
Wednesday. They include Deau
Roy Hewitt of the Willamette uni
versity law school and his son;
the Rev. Norman K. Tully, pastor
of the Presbyterian church, and
Prof. Roy A. Lockenonr of the
Willamette law faculty.
Upton Close, authority on con
ditions in the orient and author of
"The Revolt in Asia" and other
books on the subject, who will
head the party of 125 or more
persons making the tour, was in
Salem Wednesday visiting with
friends and conferring with the
local men who will accompany
him.
