Phil Bayes
Planning to
Come Back
Phil Bayes, Salem's most popu
lar fighter for a number of years, ,
Is coming; back. To be more exact,
lie's simply going to resume
fighting for his retirement has
been a matter of only fire months
so his return won't be a "come
back" in the strictest sense of the
word.
But looking at It another way,
It will be a new Phil Bayes who
makes his bow before the fans
here In the near future, for Phil
isn't the 126 pounder he tried to
be until long after he could qual
ify In that weight and keep his
strength and speed. He Isn't say
lag Just what he weighs now, but
announces that he won't attempt
to get anywhere in the neighbor
hood of 126.
He does promise however, that
the fans will see some fighting,
and there won't be any necessity
for encouragement or "booing"
from the ringside to bring about
action in the ring.
