(AP) Attention of the senate Ju

day on visit of Secretary Melloa
to Canada in 1925. especially u
to whether it was la the interest
of his stock holdings in the Alum

The committee has been consid

Chairman Norris finding the treas

reached. An effort for a vote may
be made at a meeting called for
tomorrow.
Old Law Salt Up
For Much Discussion
Seeking approval of the Norris

The Norris report declares that

Inquiry Into Purpose
Of Trip Sugcested
Some members of the committee
want an inquiry to be made into
the Mellon visit to Canada, where
the Aluminum company had taken
over a power development from
the Duke tobacco interests.
Friends of the treasury secre

settling a point about distribution
of stock in the new concern be

the aluminum stockholders and

There is onlv a casual reference
in the deposition to the Canadiaa
visit and Senator Walsh regards
this phase of the Mellon case as
"vague."
Friends of the secretary ar
about to open their argument ia
the committee and there is every
indication of a close division with
the lineup on the Norris report ia
doubt.
It Is certain, however, that the
report of Senator Norris will b
laid before the senate either as a
maioritv or minority report, thus
forcing senate action on It.
