County Autopsy surgeon A.T.
Wagner gave the opinion that the
woman was an American, 24 or
25 years old, a brunette, five feet
and four to six inches tall and
weighing approximately 120
pounds. He expressed belief that
she had been killed four or five
days ago. He found no evidence
of an illegal operation or that she
had been criminally attacked. The
torso bore no marks or bruises to
indicate how the woman had been
slain.
REMOVE OLD TRESTLES
The work of tearing down and
removHrg the old trestles on the
Yaquina Northern railroad is in
progress. The line will be rebuilt.

(AP) Leland H. Ross, wealthy
New York owaer of the yacht
Nomad,, picked up at sea in dis
tress with the captain missing and
the crew helpless to navigate the
boat, was released from custody
today after he had been given a
hearing on a charge of attempting
to smuggle liquor into port.
With him were released the
two members of the crew who
had been held as material wit
nesses. When the yacht was sighted
and picked up by a coast guard
patrol boat 17 miles off Cape May
Wednesday night, it was .reported
that the crew was intoxlcated,;but
no evidence to substantiate these
reports was brought out at the
bearing which was confined solely
to the smuggling charge.

night by the mystery surrounding
the finding by driftwood collect

Angeles river during a flood last
night.
