able change in the vegetable line
up, both as to commodity and
price.
Garage's Products Here ,
Home grown radishes and
onions, the product of H. W. Sav
age on the Garden road, have been
on the market for several days
and although this garden patch
is some days ahead of most of the
earlier ones, it will not, be long
before local crops supplant the
foreign shipper's. The onions and
radishes and 10 cents a bunch.
Local hot house cucumbers are
Also off the market and are as
fine cucumbers as anyone would
t are to eat. They are expensive,
to be sure, at 25 and 30 cents
each.
Salsify, better known as vege
table oyster, is an addition to the
market supplies, f Good sized
bunches of the plant cost 10 cents.
First Peas From Hayward
The first peas from Hayward,
Calif., are expected for local trade
Saturday, with price on the fancy
grade to hit 22 xk cents a pound.
Large fancy celery, both stalks
and hearts, la also expected for
Saturday, the former to sell at
15 and the hearts at 20 cents.
Demand for new potatoes Is
slow, but the price is down to two
pounds for 25 cents. These are
shipped in from Texas.
Asparagus offerings - are still
lii-'ht, although there is consider
able improvement in the quality.
The grass comes from California
and sells at 30 cents a bnnch.
New cabbage, head3 of which
p. re larger than offered for awhile,
y lis at cents.
The first local spinach is of
fered this week at 10 cents a
pound. The quality is excellent
ii nd the leaves apparently much
more tender than some of the im
ports. Other local greens are also
offered, including mustard and
turnip greens. The latter sells at
three pounds for 25 cents.
Endive is also available, at 10
cents a bunch.

Broccoli in Small Heads
' Roaeburg broccoli is taking the
place of cauliflower and Is good
despite the small size to which the
heads are running. The best
grade sells at 20 cents a ponrt
Tarns, while not plentiful, are
sufficient to supply the demand.
Price Is 25 cents for" two pounds,
; Carrots are larger than the first
arrivals from California and tur
nips from the south are also mak
ing a good "showing.
Egg Market Now
Steadier; Price
18,20c a Dozen
With the approach of Easter
the egg market has taken a firmer
tone, although no great rise has
been made duriag the week. Egg
quotations to the producer re
mained steady Thursday, at 18
and 20 cants. The demand is tak
ing good care of the present sup
ply, and it is probable it will be
some time late next month before
local handlers begin storage oper
ations for the season.
