AT FALLS CITY School Expenses Predomi . nate, Summary Issued by Assessor Reveal DALLAS, - Feb. 14. (Special - Polk county's state, county, and common school tax to be paldtbts year will amount to 1234,491.46. or 16.5 mills on a total valuation of $14,211,805. according to the tax summary just completed by Fred J. Holraan, assessor. This summary includes valuations and taxes to be paid by public utilities assessed by the state tax commis sion. All taxes paid In '-the county will amount to $598,482.07. City taxes will total $55,583.82. ranging from 16.7 mills 1n Falls City to 2t mills In West Salem. Falls City's valuation is $214,020 and its tax $3,574.13; Wst Sa lem's tax is $5,870 on a valuation of $202,445. Dallas will pay 20.9 mills, or $27,173.55 on a valuation of $1. 200,170. Independence has a mill- age of 17.2, paying $10,194 on a valuation of $592,715; Mon mouth's mlllage Is 26.3, with a tax of $8,770.6$ oa a valuation of $333,480. School Levie Vary The five mills general road lev ies in Polk county's 27 road dis tricts will total $71,058.03. School district taxes will total $169,881. 21, millages ranging from .7 in district 64 to 27.1 in district 57. District 2, Dallas, pays a mlllage of 18.9. the tax amounting to $37,654. The special high school tax will amount to 4.8 mills. $33,366.50. and on union high school district 1. 8.5 mills, $2,912.65. After more than 200 men and an airplane had thoroughly searched the Wilson creek district for Gal breath withont finding the slight, est trace, officials foday were ad vancing theories that Galbraith may have been shot by the set gun and his-body hidden to cover up the crime. Judce Jay L. Downing heard the motions in absence of the jury. The defendant who operated here last summer as a clairvoy ant under the name of Meyer was charged in two separate informa tions with obtaining money undr false pretenses.
