Weather, Holds Steady
During Past Week
Unlike the weather,; market
condition tit least so far as fruits
and vegetables go, hare remained
fairly stable the past Vreek,, with
market excitement being- furnish
ed largely by a sudden but ex
pected advance In eggs and but
ter. The advance in butterfat and
eggs came the middle of the
week, with two cents up on the
later and a cent on butterfat and
butter.
In the line of vegetables, sup
plies f which are holding out
well despite the late season, beets
have gone up a trifle to four
bunches for 25 cents and turnips
are also up to two bunches for IS
cents. Otherwise bunch and root
vegetables remain steady.
' Lettuce Is good and up a little,
two heads for 15 cents' and 10
cents straight for the larger ones.
Cauliflower runs 18 to 20 cents
a head, with quality fair.

two pounds for 35 cents. Cabbage
continues to hold at S cents.
"Yams are steady at four pounds
for 25 cents, with demand falrc
Enough', tomatoes, imported
from California and Mexico, are

These range from. 2 9 cents to 35
cents a pound. ; , .
. Bananas are selling, cheaper,
at four pounds for 25 cents In
es several stores. In the main
these prices prevail when the
fruit is getting fairly ripe. "
Orange quotations remain the
same, as also .do apples. Delicious
apples are commanding some of
the top prices, at around 11.60 a
bushel. Spltzenbergs and Jona
thans usually bear the same price
tags, around 98 cents the box. Ro
man Beauties, another of the
choicer grades, run about' $1.25.
