One of these lines runs east on 1811 street to 1 0th street, and then tcthe Ferry street substation, and other branch runs, out to the state Institutions lying southeast mt Salem. The other 11.000 volt feeder runs north along North Commer cial street, one branch running out the river road past tbe Kelzer school and supplies all electric ght and power service along that soad and over In to the Lake la- fish region, east of Brooks. The ether branch runs east on High kind avsnue, to the Highland ave nue and Fairgrounds substations and the Valley Packing company plant. It then extends south to the 14th street substation. This line, therefore, supplies practically all if the service north of North Mill reek. This new line, which the com pany Is now constructing from tbe 14 th street and Ferry street sub station, will constitute what is known as a "Tie Line." . This tie line i Jn conjunction with the two ieSristfhg feeders, will CMatltute a loop' ' beginning and ending at the main substation at Kill and Liberty streets, and num erous "sectionallzing" switches will be Installed In the loop, so that if trouble occurs on any one f the sections of "the loop, due to s short circuit or a break In the wires, that one section of the loop can be cut-out and "killed" .by Biese "section alizing" switches, fid service resumed on the bal ance of the loop.
