(Special) The Zena Missionary society was sponsor for a program and cafeteria supper at the Zena ftchoolhouse last Saturday .night. The program included; "America" sung by the audi ence. Violin solo, "Cavalier .Rustl cana," Miss Lorine Walling, with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Sey mour Wilson. A history of the Zena Mission ary society, Mrs. W. R. Henry. Vocal solo. "Mighty Like a Rose," Billy Utley with Mrs. Ar thur Utley at the piano. Reading, "Mary Ann'" and en core, "Robert Reece," Lucille HacketL Vocal duet, "Whispering Hope," Mrs. Arthur Utley and.Billy Utley. Piano solo, "Valse ;in E Fiat," Miss Marjorle Walling. Vocal duet, "Lore Like the Dawn, by Mr. and Mrs. Robert son. Piano solo. "Barchetta." and encore, "Little Treasure," Marie! Flint McCall. Reading In costume, "Crema tion of Sam McOee," and encore a song, "Ragged Vagabond," Mr. McDonald, He responded to a second insistent - encore with a poem, "Wealth," written recently by an Oregon forest-ranger. Vocal duet. -"Picklnariny Ltfll afcy." Mr. arid Mrs. Robertson. It was announced that the next meeting of the missionary society would be held December 5-at the home of; Mrs. Worth Henry, with Mrs. W. N. Crawford and Mrs. W. Frank Crawford assistant hostesses.-Husbands of !the . members are Invited 'to attend the meeting, which is the custom annually at the December meeting. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Muths and son Allan and a daughter. Mrs. Roy Kennedy, were recent visit ors in Woodburn and Albany. Gratis NOTABLE SUCCESS SCOTTS MILLS. Ore.. Nov. 29. (Special) A Thanksgiv ing program and basket social was given at the Crooked Finger echoolhouse Friday night, with a capacity audience present. After the program, given by pupils of the school, the baskets were auc tioned off by W. T. Hogg. Pro ceeds of the evening amounted to about 180. which will be used in fixing up the school ground and play equipment. G. W. Myers was able to carry the mail again Monday, after be ing 111 for ten days. The masquerade dance given in Myers hall Saturday night by the R. N. A. club, was enjoyed by a good sized crowd. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Lawrence and son Virgil of Albany visited . relatives here on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs.' George Haynes visited relatives in Silverton Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Hogg visited Mrs. Hogg's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Maplethorpe, '"in Salem Sunday and helping Mr. Maple thorpe celebrate his birthday. Those present at the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Maplethorpe. Mr. and Mrs. Hogg. Ixjaralne and Der i's Hogg, Cecil Shafer and Ross Hill. A wedding dance was given by Mr. and Mrs. Otis Shepherd Sat urday night in their new house. Miss Helen Amundson. who is working In Portland, visited her parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Amundson, over the week end. Miss Beatrice Amundson who teaches at Stayton also visited her parents over the week end. ROBERTS. Ore., Not. 19. (Special) Officers of the Roberts community club were elected at the first meeting of the fall sea son, held Saturday night. -as fol lows; President. George Veall; vice president. Roy Riee; secre tary. Mabel Higgins. and treasur er, Mrs. Alice Coolldge. Plans were made to cooperate with the school in putting on the Christmas program. Yoakum. 319 Oak street, caused the fire company to take out the big truck, but little dam age was caused by the blaze.
