Oct. 31 (AP) Award of contract for construction of the Longriew Rainier Columbia rtver bridge was announced here In connec tion with word that bonds for fi nancing the structure would be placed on sale In New York.Thnrs day by J. and W. Sell g man and company, banking firm. 1 The general contract tor con Nstruction of the span has . been ' awarded to the Bethlehem Steel company and a number of sub contracts have also been awarded and construction of the bridge will be speeded as rapidly as possible In announcing today the finan cing plan for the toll bridge, Web ley Vandercock of Longriew, as sociated with W. D. Comer of Se at tie in promotion of the project, said the program embraces bond? to the extent of $ 4.400.0 00 and $1,200,000 in preferred stock, making a total of $5,800,000. The Columbia river Longview Bridge company, incorporated un der the state laws of Delaware, baa been organized with 999 shares of non-par stock. This company will own and operate the bridge. Mr. Comer is preslOent o! the company and Vandercock, sec retary. Associated with them are the Bethlehem Steel company, the - Sellgman firm and Adford, Kim ball and company, a San Francisco financial firm. The bridge will be available as a direct link of the Roosevelt coast-highway and ths cost is estimated at $5,800,000. The structure, which will have a greater clearance over navigable waters than any in the country except one under construction over the Hudson river, will be ready for use by 1931.
