Archie Much was' formally
charged here with having de
coyed Mrs. Katherine Clark oft
Boston, Mass., to Spokane under
promise of marriage, and with
slaying her with a hatchet to .get
her money.
The murder charges were filed

wrote to the woman as "Jim Mur
phy," persuaded her to come to
Spokane and stay at his house,
then took her out in an automo
bile last Saturday night under pre-

here. Eberhardt's arrest followed
the return of . a grand Jury in
dictment charging him with ri
otous conspiracy. He strenuous-
; ly denied the charge.

Aid of Seattle police was enlisted
here in search for Bin Nye,
17. who disappeared August 29
while driving here from: Eugene,
Ore., with his mother. Ten miles
north of Eugene, Mrs. Elizabeth
Nye, the mother, reported to po
lice, she stopped the car to enter
a bank to cash a 'check. When
she came Out to the car again,
her eon had disappeared. She
waited on the highway two days
and then came on to Seattle, in
quiring for her boy at every gaso
line station along the road.
